Winter Feast, 25 July 2024

The Cambridge Society of NSW warmly welcomed 100+ alumni from Cambridge, Oxford and Ivy League universities and their guests for an evening of drinks and dinner, for a night of fellowship and thought. We were thrilled to welcome Professor Richard Miles (Jesus '91, and former Fellow of Trinity Hall) as our distinguished guest speaker. Professor Miles will deliver a compelling talk on 'The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire and What It Might Tell Us About Our Own Times'. Richard Miles is a renowned British historian and archaeologist. He is best known for presenting several major historical documentary series including: 'Carthage, the Roman Holocaust' (ABC), 'Ancient Worlds' (BBC) and 'Archaeology: A Secret History' (SBS). He extensive work includes directing excavations in Carthage and Rome, and authoring several acclaimed books such as 'Carthage must be destroyed' and 'Ancient Worlds: the search for Western Civilisation'. Currently, he serves as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education - Enterprise and Engagement) at the University of Sydney and Professor of Roman History and Archaeology.
